Golden Bears keep rolling at Builder Invite

HAMPTON, VA (February 20, 2010) - The Kutztown University baseball team maintained its explosive offensive output with a 12-3 win over Briarcliffe College in the first of two games on Saturday. (Boxscore)

So far in the tournament, the Golden Bears have outscored their opponents 45-17 in the three wins.

Sophomore Shayne Houck (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) followed up his eight RBI day with another strong showing at the plate. Houck finished 2-for-4 with four runs batted in. After a slow start in his freshman campaign, Houck begins the season 9-for-14 with 14 RBI.

Corey Buletza (St. Clair, PA/Pottsville) and Mike Dugan (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) created a lot of scoring oppurtunities at the top the lineup, with each collecting two hits and three runs scored. Buletza also knocked in two runs.

Jordan Garcia (Mount Carmel, PA/Fleetwood) picked up the win on the mound, going four innings without allowing a run and striking out four. Trevor Rosenberg (Sweetwater, N.J./Oakcrest/George Mason) pitched the first four innings, allowing only three hits and striking out three.

The Golden Bears will look to finish off the round robin undefeated with a non-conference match against PSAC East foe Bloomsburg at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
