KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- Kutztown University's Jared Ferguson (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) and Nick Varda (Columbia, Md./Atholton) have been announced as members of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Baseball Team for the second consecutive season.

Student-athletes must have reached sophomore status academically and athletically, while maintaining a 3.50 cumulative grade point average or higher. On-field eligibility for baseball requires a student-athlete to compete in 90 percent or start in at least 66 percent of their team's games. Pitchers must make at least 17 appearances or throw 35 innings.

Ferguson, from Reinholds, Pa., is pursuing a business administration degree with a focus in management. The junior held a 3.62 GPA at the time of nomination. Ferguson played and started in 37-of-45 games between designated hitter and outfield, missing a bit of time due to injury. He had another strong season at the dish, batting a career-best .370 (44-for-119) with eight doubles, one home run, 26 runs batted in and 23 runs scored. Ferguson is a .359 career hitter in two seasons at KU with 85 hits, 21 doubles and 59 RBIs.

Varda is a redshirt senior business administration major with concentrations in management and marketing. The Columbia, Md., native had a 3.86 GPA at the time of his nomination. Varda, who served as the Golden Bears' everyday shortstop, played in all 45 games and hit .279 (36-for-129) with four doubles, three triples, two home runs, 26 RBIs and 21 runs scored. In two seasons with the Maroon and Gold, Varda has posted a .291 batting average with 77 hits and 50 RBIs.

The 2026 Academic All-District Baseball teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
