DUNMORE, Pa. – Kutztown women's soccer divided its scoring and scored aplenty Wednesday afternoon in its first ever meeting with Lackawanna College, winning the non-conference road contest 7-0 at Schautz Stadium in Dunmore.
It was the most goals in a single game for the Golden Bears (2-0-1 overall) since the 2019 season when they totaled 10 in a 10-0 victory at Mansfield on Nov. 2, 2019.
Corinne Morgan (Port Republic, N.J./Cedar Creek) scored the first goal of the first half and the last goal of the half as she, along with
Jenna Piltz (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) led the attack with two goals each. Morgan tops the Maroon and Gold with three goals on the season thus far.
Carly Louey (Hanover, Pa./South Western) tallied her first goal of the season in the opening half and
Alayna Eyman (North East, Md./Rising Sun) and
Emma Gonzalez (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) both found the back of the net in the second half for their second goals of the campaign.
Maura Day (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington) recorded two assists and
Maddi Preston (Lincoln University, Pa./Avon Grove) added one.
Kutztown's defense, led by senior goalie
Morgan O'Donnell (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) and defenders
Sarah Erb (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central),
Alyssa Galayda (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Liberty),
Gabriella Miller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) and
Alexis Varela (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) helped give their team the first shutout of 2026. O'Donnell was not forced into action, but
Cassidy Howes (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace), who started the second half in net, came away with a save. Freshman goalie,
Natalie Eifert (Hammonton, N.J./Cedar Creek), also played 14 minutes in net.
The Golden Bears outshot the Falcons 21-2 overall and 12-1 on goal. They also had a 13-0 corner kick advantage.
Kutztown concluded its season-long, four-game road trip to begin the year and will open up PSAC play this Saturday, Sept. 5, at Shepherd, for a 1 p.m., start.
