KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University Athletics Hall of Fame will welcome six new members this fall as the class of 2026.
 
KU's 47th annual hall of fame class includes:

• Alexandra Crigler '11 (women's swimming)
• Mackenzie Fuhrman '20 (field hockey)
• Patrick Mathuse '97 (men's wrestling)
• Maddie Mohr '20 (women's soccer)
• Emne`ko Sweeney (football)
• Sherry Szczuka '89 (women's basketball)

 
The 2026 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place in the Nancy Jean Stump Seiger '54 Room at the McFarland Student Union on the evening of Friday, November 6. Ticket information will be available in the coming weeks.
 
The hall of fame's membership is set to increase to 257 former Golden Bear student-athletes, coaches and contributors dating back to the inaugural class in 1977 with the addition of this year's inductees.
 
The 2026 hall of fame class will also be recognized on field prior to Kutztown's Saturday, Nov. 7, football game against Bloomsburg.

KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2026

 

ALEXANDRA CRIGLER '11 | WOMEN'S SWIMMING

Alexandra Crigler made her mark as the best distance freestyle swimmer in KU history as a four-time NCAA Division II All-America honorable mention finisher and school record holder in the 500-, 1000- and 1650-yard events.
 
Crigler qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2010 and 2011. In her national debut, she secured All-America honorable mention in two events by placing 15th in the 1650 free and 800 free relay. At the 2011 NCAA Championships, Crigler again picked up two All-America honorable mention finishes by taking 11th in the 1650 free and 16th in the 1000 free.
 
All three of Crigler's school records were intact at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season. She established the program's 500 free record of 5:04.64 and 1000 free record of 10:23.07 at the 2010 PSAC Championships and swam a KU-best 17:19.88 in the 1650 free at the 2011 NCAA DII Championships. Crigler also appears KU top 10 lists in the 800 free relay (second and third) and 200 free (seventh).
 
A native of Sinking Spring, Pa., Crigler collected All-PSAC Third Team honors in the 500 free in 2010 while helping the Golden Bears to their best-ever team finish of fourth at the PSAC Championships.
 
Following her graduation from KU, Crigler joined head coach Tim Flannery's staff as an assistant coach from 2012-16. She currently resides in Austin, Texas, where she works for Action Behavior Centers.
 

MACKENZIE FUHRMAN '20 | FIELD HOCKEY

Mackenzie Fuhrman was the first three-time NFHCA All-America First Team selection in Kutztown field hockey history and helped set the stage for the Golden Bears' rise to a perennial national power.
 
The midfielder from Lancaster, Pa., closed her stellar career with 18 goals, 28 assists and 64 points while starting in 75-of-77 games played between 2016-19. During her senior campaign, Fuhrman posted 20 points with six goals and eight assists in leading nationally ranked KU to a PSAC championship game appearance for the second time in program history and the NCAA Division II national semifinals. KU won 15 games in 2019, the highest total in a season since 2007. Fuhrman still ranks tied for third in program history with 28 career assists.
 
 
Fuhrman was a three-time All-PSAC First Team selection, a two-time team MVP and KU's 2019-20 Female Athlete and Female Senior Athlete of the Year.
 
Fuhrman is one of two three-time NFHCA All-America First Team honorees from KU and one of just six three-time NFHCA All-Americans (First or Second Team) in program history.
 
Academically, Fuhrman was a two-time College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-American, including First Team honors in 2019-20, a KU Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award Gold Medal recipient and an NCAA Women of the Year nominee.
 
She was a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, NFHCA Scholar of Distinction, NFHCA National Academic Squad member, and eight-time Dean's List honoree as well as a three-time D2ADA Academic Achievement Award recipient.
 
Fuhrman currently works as a UX/UI designer for Charlotte-based Tattoo Projects Advertising.
 

PATRICK MATHUSE '97 | MEN'S WRESTLING

Patrick Mathuse was a two-time Northeast Region champion and three-time national qualifier for the Golden Bear men's wrestling team.
 
Mathuse wrestled at 118 lbs. in each of his four seasons at KU. He posted three consecutive 20+ win seasons from 1993-94 to 1995-96, including career-high 24-win seasons in 1993-94 (24-7) and 1994-95 (24-5).
 
Mathuse, from Hazleton, Pa., compiled a career record of 85-25, ranking second to only Bruce Herman (109 wins) at the time of his graduation. He was also stellar in dual competition, producing a 56-3 record that featured unbeaten dual seasons as a junior (17-0) and senior (11-0).
 
After placing fourth at the Northeast Regional Championships as a freshman in 1992-93, Mathuse climbed to the top of the podium as a sophomore in 1993-94 and made his first NCAA Division II Championship appearance. He repeated as regional champion in 1994-95 and finished runner-up at the East Regional Championships in 1995-96.
 
Mathuse was also a two-time PSAC Championships placewinner and registered 27 career pins, including a career-high 14 as a junior.
 
Mathuse served the United States Armed Forces in the 82nd Airborne Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom. He is currently a computed tomography/radiology technologist for Hospital Corporation of America.
 

MADDIE MOHR '21 | WOMEN'S SOCCER

Maddie Mohr achieved several firsts for the Golden Bear women's soccer program from 2016-19. She is the first and only player in program history to earn two United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team honors. She concluded her career as a three-time All-American, three-time All-Atlantic Region First Team honoree, and three-time All-PSAC First Team selection. Mohr also became the first freshman in program history to earn All-America honors with her D2CCA Third Team recognition back in 2016.
 
The midfielder from Elizabethtown, Pa., racked up 28 goals and 64 points over 66 games in just three seasons to rank among the program's career leaders in both categories. Though she graduated fifth all-time in goals and seventh in points at KU, Mohr unfortunately never got the opportunity to close out her career, as an offseason injury forced her to miss the 2019 season. She redshirted and rehabbed extensively to be ready for 2020, only to have that campaign wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Mohr received a Chambliss Student Academic Achievement silver medal in the category of noteworthy achievements in athletics and was named the 2021 KU Female Senior Athlete of the Year.
 
As a freshman in 2016, Mohr registered 11 goals, seven assists, 29 points and 60 shots as the Golden Bears went 20-5 and reached the NCAA Division II national semifinals for the first time in school history. She was named All-PSAC First Team, United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region First Team and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-America Third Team. Mohr was also voted team MVP that season along with being named KU's 2016-17 Female Freshman of the Year and the 2016-17 LVAIAW Most Outstanding Soccer Athlete.
 
Mohr's goal-scoring prowess continued in 2017, when she tallied 14 goals in 21 games, tied for the third-most goals in a season at KU. Once again, Mohr's excellence aided team success, as KU reached the PSAC semifinals and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. She was a repeat all-conference and all-region First Team pick, but this time, a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American.
 
After helping the Golden Bears to a 14-4-2 record and another national tournament appearance in 2018, Mohr became a three-time All-PSAC and All-Atlantic Region First Team honoree along with a back-to-back All-America First Team recipient.
 

EMNE`KO SWEENEY | FOOTBALL

Emne`ko Sweeney was the first running back in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards twice in a career and currently ranks as the seventh all-time leading rusher in Kutztown University history.
 
Sweeney claimed All-PSAC East First Team honors following the 1997 and 1998 seasons. He enjoyed his first 1,000-yard rushing season as a junior in 1997, finishing with a career-high 1,113 yards (123.7 per game). Sweeney nearly duplicated his output as a senior, going for 1,103 yards. He is one of only six players in program history to eclipse 200 carries in a season (218 in 1998).
 
Along with his prowess on the ground, Sweeney led the team with 30 receptions for 244 yards and a TD as a senior. He ran for a career-high 11 touchdowns as a junior.
 
Sweeney closed his career with 2,496 rushing yards on 493 attempts (eighth all-time), for an average of 5.1 yards per carry. He also ranks sixth in all-purpose yards at KU with 3,648 in 34 games and held the program record for the longest touchdown run in a game (91 yards) until 2015.
 
Sweeney, from York, Pa., is currently a special education teacher at New Story Schools.
 

SHERRY SZCZUKA '89 | WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Sherry Szczuka was an All-PSAC First Team and ECAC All-Star selection during her career with the KU women's basketball team. Szczuka spent two seasons with the Maroon and Gold after transferring from Delaware Technical Community College. She was a team captain and was named to KU's Golden Anniversary Team as part of its 50-year anniversary celebration in 2021.
 
Szczuka is the only player in school history to average 15 points per game for a career, while also holding the program record for career 3-point field goal percentage at 42.2%. Both records have stood since 1989.
 
The Wilmington, Del., native set numerous program single-season records during a standout 1988-89 campaign. Szczuka scored 540 points, averaged 18.0 points per game, made 202 field goals and 63 3-point field goals, shot 45.7% from 3-point range and collected 84 steals. Nearly four decades later, those totals remain among the best in program history. Szczuka still ranked second in points, scoring average, field goals and 3-point field goal percentage, third in steals and tied for 10th in 3-point field goals at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.
 
Szczuka won a state title at Delcastle Technical High School in Wilmington prior to embarking on her collegiate career. She earned a Bachelor of Science in business management from KU in 1989. Szczuka has worked with multiple agencies for the State of Delaware, including Youth Rehabilitation Services, Office of Management and Budget, Department of Corrections and Public Health and most recently serving as a principal planner.
