PREVIEW | No. 15 Kutztown returns to PSAC Tournament, faces No. 22 Seton Hill in Quarterfinals

GREENSBURG, Pa. – No. 15 Kutztown women's lacrosse is set to compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference quarterfinals as the No. 3 seed from the East Division, traveling to face No. 22 Seton Hill, the No. 2 seed from the West, on Tuesday, April 28, for a 3 p.m. matchup.

The postseason appearance marks the third time in four years under head coach Kristen Nicholson and assistant coach Tiffany Anderson that the Maroon and Gold have reached the PSAC Championship Tournament. In 2023, the Golden Bears advanced to the PSAC semifinals, and in 2024, they made history by reaching their first PSAC Championship Game since 1984.

Nicholson is eager to return to the tournament stage after narrowly missing a postseason berth last season.

"We're thrilled to be back in the PSAC Tournament with another opportunity to compete for a championship," Nicholson said. "This team has worked hard all year for this moment, and we're ready to take on a strong opponent in the quarterfinals."

THE BRACKET
The Golden Bears and Griffins are one of four quarterfinal matchups on Tuesday. The complete bracket features:

No. 4 Lock Haven at No. 1 East Stroudsburg | 4 p.m.
No. 4 Shippensburg at No. 1 Slippery Rock | 4 p.m.
No. 3 IUP at No. 2 West Chester | 4 p.m.
No. 3 Kutztown at No. 2 Seton Hill | 3 p.m.

All quarterfinal games are played at the higher seed. The winners advance to the semifinals on Friday, May 1, with the PSAC Championship set for Sunday, May 3.

A FAMILIAR FOE
Seton Hill (10-6, 7-3 PSAC West) and Kutztown (12-5, 8-4 PSAC East) have crossed paths before, most recently in the 2024 PSAC semifinals, when the Golden Bears secured a 13-10 victory to advance to the championship game. The Bears also defeated Seton Hill 14-12 in the 2024 regular season. That win avenged a 2023 semifinal loss and snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Griffins.

The two programs have met 12 times, with Seton Hill holding a 4-8 edge in the all-time series.
