Bogovic sweeps weekly conference bowling awards, Snyder named to honor roll

COLONIA, N.J. – The 23rd-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team saw first-year kegler Madilyn Bogovic (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) claim Bowler and Rookie of the Week honors from the East Coast Conference, while senior teammate Sydney Snyder (Morrisville, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) was named to the Weekly Honor Roll after their performances at this past weekend's Griffin Baker Classic, as announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.

Bogovic, taking part in the second outing of her first season with the Golden Bears, is off to a blistering hot start while playing a pivotal role on one of the ECC's best teams. The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native finished the weekend as the top KU bowler, averaging 20.38 pins per baker frame on an 82.9 percent fill clip across 82 frames. She averaged 9.1 pins on her first ball and struck on a team-high 48.8 percent of spares, while averaging just shy of 21 pins per frame in the anchor role for an 84.4 percent fill rate.

The performance was good enough for fifth place on the weekend, giving the Cedar Cliff High School product her first career All-Tournament Team in the baker-only outing.

Bogovic claimed her second consecutive Rookie of the Week honor after finishing in the top 20 percent of the field at the loaded Northeast Classic tournament to open the new year. With her second weekly rookie honor of the 2025-26 season, she tied two other conference bowlers with a pair of first-year bowler recognitions.

Snyder had a similarly strong showing for the Maroon and Gold, toppling 19.85 pins per frame on a team-best 84.1 percent fill clip while primarily bowling from the leadoff spot. She was efficient in spare attempts, converting at a 71.1 percent rate that included an 83.3 percent makeable second try mark and 88.2 single pin try rate, all ranking as the best marks on the team.

This is the first recognition of any kind this season for the Conwell-Egan Catholic product, who has played a major role in the team's success throughout the season and was a pivotal piece of the Kutztown ECC Championship team from a season ago.

The award-winning outings from the tandem helped the Golden Bears (29-16 overall) to a fifth-place finish out of 13 teams on the weekend, as the team battled to win its last four matches, coming away with a 4-3 record in its fifth tournament of the season.

Bogovic, Snyder, and the rest of the Golden Bear keglers will return to the lanes this weekend, as they travel to Clearview Lanes in Mount Joy, Pa., for the three-day Mount Shootout, hosted by Mount St. Mary's, from Friday, Feb. 6 to Sunday, Feb. 8.
