Golden Bears rout Rangers, 7-0

MADISON, N.J. – Kutztown University women's tennis earned its first victory of the season in dominant fashion, sweeping Drew University, 7-0, on the road Friday.
 
The Golden Bears (1-2) cruised in doubles, dropping just four games in three matches and went on to complete the sweep with victories in all six singles flights.

The No. 3 pair of Gabby Gentile (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and Maddie Gilbert (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) gave KU an early edge with a 6-0 win over Danielle Pettoni and Kapriana Payami. The visitors clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 triumph from Anastassiya Kim (Almaty, Kazakstan) and Isabela de Nadai (Vitoria, Brazil/St. Paul's School). Freshmen Anna Fisicaro (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) and Myah Marturano (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) completed the doubles trifecta with a 6-3 win over Madison Williams and Daylin Evans.
 
Kutztown controlled singles, winning four of the six flights against the Rangers (0-2) in straight sets.

Kim swept Williams 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, while de Nadai defeated Riley Roesel, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 2. Fisicaro's6-1, 6-1 win over Nicole Kalorin at No. 3 made it a 4-0 lead for the Maroon and Gold, clinching the match.

Gentile topped Payami 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 before Marturano and Gilbert closed out the sweep with victories in super tiebreakers. Marturano held off Pettoni 6-1, 5-7, 10-5 at fourth singles, while Gilbert rallied past Destiny Medina 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 at No. 6. 
 
Kutztown will compete at the Keystone Courts for the only time this fall when it hosts Davis & Elkins tomorrow at noon.
