Six Golden Bear greats named to 2025 Kutztown University Athletics Hall of Fame class

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University announced Friday morning that it will induct six former Golden Bear standouts into its 46th annual and 2025 Athletics Hall of Fame class this coming November.
 
Making up the class of 2025 are: Dr. Jeffrey D. Craig Jr. '07 (baseball), Lee Hawley '03 (men's soccer), Laura Kline Senna '07 (track & field/field hockey), Anthony Lee '19 (men's basketball), Mercedes Van Wagner Scheibein '08 (women's basketball) and Emily Zwiercan Gosling '19 (women's soccer).

The newest inductees will push the KU Athletics Hall of Fame's membership past 250 (251) coaches and contributors dating back to the inaugural class in 1977.
 
The 2025 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is scheduled for the evening of Friday, Nov. 14, in the Nancy Jean Stump Seiger '54 Room, 218 McFarland Student Union.
 
Tickets for the event can be purchased HERE. Adult tickets are $45 and children (3-12) are $15. The evening begins with a reception at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m., and the induction ceremony at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Nov. 15, the 2025 Hall of Fame class will be recognized on the field prior to the start of Kutztown's football game against Indiana (Pa.) at noon.

Jeff Craig started 53 games as Kutztown set a then-PSAC record with 49 wins against just seven losses in 2007. He hit .360 with 38 runs, 16 doubles, 6 home runs and 55 RBIs for a Golden Bear squad that captured the NCAA North Atlantic Region championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II College World Series. 
 
Craig, an outfielder from Wilkes-Barre, Pa., finished his career as a two-time All-PSAC East selection and graduated among school leaders in at-bats (575, fifth), hits (211, third), RBIs (136, fourth), doubles (48, second), home runs (17, fourth), total bases (318, third) and batting average (.367, fifth) despite playing just three seasons for the Maroon and Gold.
 
During Craig's three years with the program (2005-07), KU posted a 132-39 record and won the PSAC East in 2007.
 
Academically, Craig was named to the 2007 PSAC Spring Top 10, while majoring in speech/language pathology.

LEE HAWLEY '03

MEN'S SOCCER

Lee Hawley is the most decorated defender in KU men's soccer history. He is the only player in program history to be named All-Region in each of his four seasons. Hawley was also a three-time All-PSAC pick. He played and started in every game during his Golden Bear career and was a three-time team captain.
 
Hawley, a Montrose, Pa., native, helped KU post double-digit win totals in 1999 and 2000, the only 10+ win seasons in program history. Hawley's teams also produced top five program single-season goal and assist totals.

He went on to play professionally with the Reading Rage prior to pursuing a career in education.
 
Off the field, Hawley was a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and Dean's List student. He served as a member of KU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and student government, and volunteered with the Special Olympics and Science Olympiad.

LAURA KLINE SENNA '07

TRACK & FIELD/FIELD HOCKEY

Laura Kline was two-sport star at KU, competing in track & field and field hockey.

On the track, she was a four-time PSAC champion and 10-time All-PSAC runner in track & field. Kline captured four PSAC  gold medals as part of the 4x400-meter relay, three in the 400m, two in the 400m hurdles and one in the 4x100m relay. With the Golden Bear field hockey program, Kline earned NFHCA All-America First Team honors in 2005, All-PSAC Second Team recognition in 2004 and set a then-program single-season record with 13 assists in 2005.
 
Kline concluded her career as the school record holder in the outdoor 400m hurdles and ranked second in the 4x400m relay and third in the 400m. Indoors, Kline held the school record with the 4x800m relay team, ranked second in the 400m and fourth in the 500m.
 
Kline was named the MVP of KU's women's indoor and outdoor track & field teams as a senior in 2006, when she was the PSAC Champion in the 400m and was part of the second-place 4x400m relay, helping the Golden Bears to their third-straight PSAC indoor team title. She would qualify for the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships in the 400m hurdles, placing 15th at nationals. 
 
Kline, from Reading, Pa., was a four-time CoSIDA Academic All-American. She was named to the At-Large (field hockey) and Track & Field Cross Country teams during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 academic years, including At-Large and Track & Field/Cross Country First Team honors in 2005-06. Additionally, Kline was a six-time Dean's List student, five-time PSAC Top 10 pick, three-time NFHCA All-Academic Squad honoree and two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete. Following her junior year, she was named the PSAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Division II Conference Commissioners Association East Region Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA in special education and a minor in psychology.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Anthony Lee is one of three players to eclipse 2,000 career points in Kutztown men's basketball history, amassing 2,292. He capped his career as the program leader in 3-point field goals (275) and 3-point field goal percentage (46.8%), while ranking second in points, second in field goals made (773), third in free throws made (471), third in free throw percentage (87.7%), third in steals (200), eighth in rebounds (656), eighth in blocked shots (102) and ninth in assists (324).
 
The 2018-19 PSAC East Athlete of the Year graduated with nine school records (game, season or career). He netted a school single-game record 50 points at Pitt-Johnstown on Dec. 8, 2018, while also topping 40 points on two other occasions.
 
Lee, a native of Willow Grove, Pa., averaged a career-high and program single-season record 27.4 points per game as a senior in 2018-19, while also establishing new KU single-season benchmarks for points (822), 3-pointers made (92) and free throw percentage (90.1%). The acclaimed guard also made 265 field goals, second most in a season in team history, 200 free throws (third) and registered 140 assists (sixth) in helping the Golden Bears to a 16-14 record and PSAC quarterfinal appearance.
 
Lee was a four-time All-PSAC East selection, including a pair of First Team nods. He received multiple NABC All-District and D2CCA All-Atlantic Region accolades along with being named D2CCA All-America Honorable Mention in 2018-19.
 
The Grand Rapids Drive drafted Lee with the 55th pick in the 2019 NBA G League Draft. He went on to continue his professional career with the Reading Rebels of The Basketball League (TBL)

MERCEDES VAN WAGNER SCHEIBEIN '08

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Mercedes Van Wagner was a two-time All-PSAC East forward and the 2005 PSAC East Freshman of the Year for the Golden Bear women's basketball team. A preseason All-PSAC East First Team selection in 2007-08, she followed those expectations by capturing First Team honors following her senior season while averaging 8.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
 
Van Wagner became the 14th 1,000-point scorer in program history during the 2007-08 season and closed her career with 1,067 points. She graduated as the program's career leader in rebounds (839) and blocked shots (199). She also ranked second in career field goal percentage at 51.2%.
 
Originally from Mullica Hill, N.J., Van Wagner continued to rank in the top 10 among KU's single-season leaders in field goal percentage (twice) and blocked shots (twice). Kutztown won 48 games over her career with two playoff appearances and a trip to the PSAC semifinals in 2006.
 
Van Wagner, who went on to play professionally in Germany in 2008-09, was a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and graduated cum laude in 2008 with degrees in elementary education and coaching.

EMILY ZWIERCAN GOSLING '19

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Emily Zwiercan was a four-year member of the KU women's soccer team and a team captain.

A forward from Reinholds, Pa., Zwiercan played in 82 career games, tied for second-most in program history at the conclusion of her career, and made 59 starts. She is the school record holder in career points (110) and goals (44) and ranks fourth with 22 assists. Zwiercan is the only player in program history to surpass 100 career points.
 
Zwiercan claimed D2CCA All-America Third Team honors in 2017 and was a two-time All-Atlantic Region First Teamer, a three-time All-PSAC First Teamer, the 2017 D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year and 2017 PSAC Athlete of the Year.
 
Zwiercan tied a career-high with 14 goals as a senior in 2019. She set the KU and PSAC record for goals in a game with six at Mansfield on Nov. 2, 2019, as Kutztown established a new program single-game record with 10 goals.
 
Zwiercan was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and six-time Dean's List honoree.
