KUTZTOWN, Pa. –
Kamryn Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York) had a breakout first year in collegiate bowling as she garnered numerous individual accolades, as well as helping guide Kutztown to historic team glory this past season. Brenneman added another award as she was voted the 2024-25 KU Female Freshman of the Year, the first for the program, announced Wednesday.
Â
Brenneman was a leader of the Golden Bears (64-45 overall) and helped take them to their first East Coast Conference Championship crown. KU reached its second-ever NCAA postseason and defeated Fayetteville State on the national stage for their first victory on that level since 2011.
Â
She had one of the best freshman seasons in program history. Brenneman, an All-East Coast Conference First Teamer, was voted the ECC Rookie of the Year and was on the National Tenpin Coaches Association All-Rookie Second Team. She bowled 90 percent of the team's frames and rolled a team-best 83.7 percent baker fill percentage and 88.7 single pins spare percentage while holding the conference's second-best overall scoring average (19.74 pins).
Â
In the classroom, Brenneman achieved NTCA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete status.
Â
Presented annually since 1993, the Kutztown University Athletics Female Freshman of the Year award recognizes a first-year Golden Bear for outstanding athletic achievement. The award is voted upon by athletic department administration, coaches and support staff.
