KUTZTOWN, Pa. – No. 16 Kutztown recorded 13 hits in game one as all but one in the lineup had at least one hit and KU split with West Chester Tuesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division softball doubleheader at North Campus Field.

The Golden Bears (30-11 overall, 14-8 PSAC) won the opener 8-0 in six innings and then the Golden Rams (26-13, 12-10) answered in taking game two 4-1. The teams also split the two games at West Chester back on March 25.

Naya Darnowski (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) finished with five hits and scored three runs to lead the lineup.
Brianna Stocklin (Deptford, N.J./Deptford Township),
Jenna Piatkiewicz (Fogelsville, Pa./Parkland) and
Emily Henn (Matamoras, Pa./Delaware Valley) all recorded three hits on the day.
Alexa Stevens (Covington Township, Pa./North Pocono) tallied two hits and three RBIs and
Samantha Paetow (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg) had one hit and three RBIs.

Haley Gravish (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg) threw a complete game shutout in game one, running her win total to 18 on the season, second in the PSAC. Her 2.53 ERA ranks 10th in the conference.

Kutztown is next at Bloomsburg this Friday, April 18, with game one set for 2 p.m.

Kutztown had four separate innings where it scored two runs and used the arm of Gravish and gloves of its fielders to shutout West Chester in six innings.

Stevens and Paetow both had two-run singles in the bottom of the first and third innings, respectively, to stake the Golden Bears to a 4-0 lead. A West Chester throwing error in the fourth allowed two more runs to score. A Stevens run-scoring double highlighted the sixth inning, while Piatkiewicz raced home following a Stocklin stolen base of second as the Golden Rams' catcher threw down, but to no avail.

Kutztown's lone run came in the bottom of the sixth inning with one out as Paetow reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded. Outside of that, West Chester starter, Danielle Ciliberto kept KU in check in the batter's box all game. She allowed six hits and the one run, ranking sixth in the PSAC in ERA at 1.91.

The Golden Rams put a run up in the top of the first inning, two more in the third and another in the fourth.
