SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – Kutztown women's tennis continued its strong play this spring in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division matches as it took down Shepherd 6-1 on the road Sunday to remain undefeated at 2-0 in the conference.
The Golden Bears won all three doubles matches to earn the team point and then were victorious in five of the six singles matches.
Emma Semery (Fuveau, France/HDN Academy) and
Ximena Bolanos (Mineral de la Reforma, Mexico/Colegio Makarenko) made quick work of the Rams as they won 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Bieke Roovers (Leiden, Netherlands/Leonardo College) and
Isabela de Nadai (Vitoria, Brazil/St. Paul's School) won 6-4 at the top of the lineup and then
Gabby Gentile (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and
Jenna Ferretti (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) rounded out the perfect doubles round with a 7-5 victory at No. 3.
In singles pairings, Semery led the charge at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-1 win, Roovers recorded a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at No. 2 and then de Nadai defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-0 at the third spot in the lineup. Bolanos had an easy go at No. 4 singles as she won via a Rams retirement from the match after a 1-0 score and then Gentile completed the wins for KU with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 5.
Kutztown is right back out on the court as it will compete in its second match in as many days when it hosts Millersville in another PSAC East match on senior day at Keystone Courts Monday at 2 p.m.
