LYNCHBURG, Va. –
Kevin Givone (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) picked up where he left off last season, an NCAA Championship appearance, as he netted a Provisional mark in the javelin to highlight Kutztown men's outdoor track & field Friday on day one of the 2025 season and of the two-day Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational at the University of Lynchburg.
Givone finished second in the prelim with a best throw of 60.28m (197-09) to advance to tomorrow's final.
Four other Golden Bears earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, including
Anthony Helmstetter (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) in the javelin and
Caleb Tryninewski (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) and
Nate Schaeffer (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) in the pole vault in field events, and
Jack Hollar (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) in the 10,000m open. Helmstetter had a mark of 56.80m (186-04) to place third, while both Tryninewski and Schaeffer recorded best clearances of 4.50m (14-9.0). Hollar won his event in a time of 32:23.91.
