UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Three runners from the 200m field earned top-10 program times as Kutztown men's track & field enjoyed a successful Saturday at the Sykes & Sabock Invitational on the campus of Penn State University in University Park.
Daron Haggans (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin),
Michael Fellin (Sheppton, Pa./Marian Catholic) and
James Washburn (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) all etched their names in the KU record books in the 200m with Haggans (22.22) seventh all-time, Fellin (22.37) tied for ninth and Washburn (22.38) 10th. They led a group of 10 Golden Bears who also recorded Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks on the day.
Haggans and Washburn were also a part of the 4x4 relay team that placed second overall in a time of 3:19.67, which ranks seventh all-time in program history.
Joe Cavalcante (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College H.S.) and
Steele Wrigley (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) rounded out the relay team.
Gabe Sample (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) won the long jump in a mark of 7.07m (23-2.5).
Trey Hamlin III (Townsend, Del./Caravel Academy) was third in the triple jump at 13.95m (45-9.25).
Kyle Archie (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) and
TJ White (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) finished third and fifth, respectively, in the high jump at 2.01m (6-7) and 1.98m (6-6), respectively.
Kyle Love (Lansdowne, Pa./Bonner-Prendergast) had a PSAC time of 8.44 in the 60 meter hurdle prelim to qualify for the final.
Jacob Solonoski (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) and
Jake Kelly (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) rounded out the PSAC qualifiers in the weight throw and shot put, respectively.
Kutztown will be back in action next weekend for a two-day event at the Widener Indoor Classic in Chester on Friday, Feb. 14, and Saturday, Feb. 15.
