White leaps to NCAA Provisional mark to lead Golden Bears in final regular season meet

KUTZTOWN, Pa.TJ White (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) netted an NCAA Provisional mark in the high jump to lead the Kutztown men's track & field team Friday night at the Golden Bear Invitational inside O'Pake Fieldhouse in the final regular season meet before PSAC championships.
 
White's best jump of 2.04m (6-8.25) is a personal-best and ranks fifth all-time in program history.
 
Four other Golden Bears earned PSAC-Qualifying standards, including Nate Schaeffer (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) in the pole vault, Jake Kelly (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) in the shot put, Trey Hamlin III (Townsend, Del./Caravel Academy) in the long jump and triple jump and Jacob Solonoski (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) in the shot put and weight throw. White, Schaeffer, Hamlin III and Solonski also won their respective events.
 
Vaughn Cole (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) and Joshua Shuler (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) both qualified for the 55m final and Shuler won it with a time of 6.56, while also winning the 200m. Connor Murphy (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) won the mile and Port Habalar (Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) finished first in the 800m.
 
Kutztown will now turn its attention to the postseason as it will next compete in the PSAC Indoor Championships at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, next Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2, at Rauch Fieldhouse.
