Box Score 2 PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Kutztown softball bats had a historic day at the plate, combining to score 32 runs in two shortened, run-rule wins Saturday at the UNC Pembroke Invitational in Pembroke, N.C. KU defeated Felician 17-4 in five innings in game one and followed that up with a 15-7 victory over Davis & Elkins in game two.

In the victory over the Golden Falcons, the Golden Bears tied the most runs in a game since a 17-10 win over East Stroudsburg on April 14, 2009. It hasn't been since May 11, 2007, that a KU team has scored more in a game. The Maroon and Gold also finished with the most hits (18) since they also recorded 18 hits in a win over Mansfield on April 3, 2023.

Alexa Stevens (Covington Township, Pa./North Pocono) ended Saturday with a six-hit day and
Emily Henn (Matamoras, Pa./Delaware Valley) finished with five hits as the Maroon and Gold totaled 36 hits in the two games, 18 each.

Abbey Wagner (Quakertown, Pa./Qaukertown) earned her first collegiate victory starting in her first game in the opener and
Amanda Slabicki (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) won for the second time in as many days, coming on in relief in game two.

Kutztown is down in Pembroke for one final game tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 2, when it meets Davis & Elkins for the second time, at 10 a.m., before returning to KU and a two-week break from competition.

Kutztown 17, Felician 4 (5 inn.)

For the second time in as many days, Kutztown run-ruled Felician in its first game of the day, taking care of business in five innings.

On Friday, KU shutout the Golden Falcons 11-0 and outhit them 10-2. In the latest matchup, the Golden Bears put up a season-high in runs and hits, outhitting them 18-6, scoring at least two runs in every inning. Kutztown scored five in the top of the first, four in the fifth, three in both the second and fourth and two in the third.

It was a clinic at the plate for the Maroon and Gold as 11 different players tallied a hit and six of those had multi-hit games, led by a 3-for-3 contest from Stevens.
Brianna Stocklin (Deptford, N.J./Deptford Township),
Naya Darnowski (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township), Henn, Paetow and
Taylor Gearhart (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) all finished with two hits.

Stevens, who was coming off a 3-for-5 day at the plate with four runs and four RBIs Friday, was at it again 24 hours later, going 3-for-3 at the dish, scoring two runs and bringing home three RBIs. The junior had two extra-base hits and finished a home run shy of the cycle. Her two-run double got things going in the top of the first inning as the Maroon and Gold took a 2-0 lead and never looked back.
Samantha Paetow (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg) then put an exclamation point on the opening frame as she connected on her first collegiate long ball, a three-run shot to put her team on top 5-0 before Felician even stepped up to the plate.

Morgan Slomkowski (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) and Paetow highlighted the second inning each with RBI singles. In the third, Stocklin singled home
Leanna Schenk (Roslyn, Pa./Abington) and then touched home on a Stevens triple as KU extended its lead to 10-3. The run rule came into effect in the top of the fourth inning as Gearhart stole home to make it an eight-run advantage and then Stocklin tripled home
Sarah Harvat (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) and later scored on a passed ball.
Sophia Collins (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) recorded her first hit of the season and second double of her career in the fifth, bringing home two runs and then
Amaris Torres (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) notched her first career hit, an RBI double later that frame to round out the scoring.

Wagner made her first collegiate start inside the circle and earned the victory, throwing all five innings, giving up six hits and three earned runs, striking out three.

Kutztown 15, Davis & Elkins 7 (6 inn.)

Kutztown trailed 1-0 before Slomkowski hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the score at 1-1. The Senators then scored five runs in the next two innings to take a 6-1 advantage heading into the bottom of the fourth.

The fourth inning proved to be game-changing for the Golden Bears as they brought in nine runs to take their first lead at 10-6, a lead they would add on to with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game early.

Henn, Stevens and
Kristin Geesey (Bainbridge, Pa./Elizabethtown) all had three hits with Geesey scoring three runs and Henn and Stevens each adding two RBIs.
Jenna Piatkiewicz (Fogelsville, Pa./Parkland) went 2-for-2 with a career-high five RBIs and two runs scored. In that pivotal fourth inning, the junior had a double and a single and brought in four runs.

Harvat and Darnowski both recorded two RBIs.
