BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A quintet of runners in the 60m event, along with Owen Weaver (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) in the heptathlon all had strong days Saturday to highlight Kutztown men's indoor track & field in the final day of the two-day Fast Times Before Finals at Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse.
 
Michael Fellin (Sheppton, Pa./Marian Catholic), Kymanni Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Overlea), Daron Haggans (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), Sean Singleton (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and David Bates (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) each qualified for the finals after running the prelim, and they all ran times that rank in the top-10 in program history.
 
Fellin won the event with a time of 6.77, he holds the record at 6.65. Kymanni Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) finished in a tie for second with teammate Daron Haggans (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), both crossing the finish line at 6.93. Johnson had a better time in the prelim, his 6.86 is third-best all-time in program lore. Sean Singleton (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) placed fourth in 6.94, sixth at KU. Those four had PSAC times. David Bates (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) ran a 7.01, which ranks 10th at KU.
 
Weaver ended the seven-event heptathlon in second with 4702 points, the highest total in program history.
 
Joey Pittman (Stafford, Va./Stafford) won the 1000m in a time of 2:39.92. Ryan Kenneff (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and Brett Pevec (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) gave the Maroon and Gold a one-through-three finish in the event.
 
Two other Golden Bears earned PSAC cut times, including Jaydon Witman (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg), who finished third in the 60H in a time of 8.79. His 8.33 in the prelim put him on top of the board and was a qualifying time. In field events, Jake Kelly (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) was second in the shot put with a best throw of 15.90m (52-2.0), a PSAC mark.
 
Kutztown is off until the new year and will next compete at the Alvernia Winter Meet on Saturday, Jan. 17, in Reading.
