Kutztown is appearing in its eighth NCAA DII Championship tournament all-time and is playing in the quarterfinal round for the third time. The Golden Bears are 8-7 in 15 all-time NCAA playoff games and have advanced to the national quarterfinals twice previously, in 2021 and 2023. They have made it to the semifinal round just once before, in 2023.

This is the first ever meeting between Kutztown and Frostburg State.

The Bobcats defeated No. 11 Johnson C. Smith 21-7 in the First Round and then took down California (Pa.) 23-21 last Saturday in the Second Round.

To get here, KU downed Bentley 52-0 in the First Round and then Assumption 56-19 in the Second Round. With the Maroon and Gold's victory last weekend, they set a new record for wins in a season with 13 and are 13-0 overall.

Kutztown matched its highest-ever ranking in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Poll when it moved up to third in the Week 12 poll on Nov. 17, at the conclusion of the regular season. The Golden Bears also held steady at No. 3 in the D2Football.com Top 25, a spot they've held for 10 consecutive polls. The next polls from both organizations will be the final 2025 rankings following the completion of the national championship game.

The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the national semifinals at a site and time to be determined on Saturday, Dec. 13.
