COLONIA, N.J. – After a stellar season-opening performance that helped lead the Kutztown University women's bowling team to a 5-0 start to the season, first-year bowler Isabella Hopper (Mifflinville, Pa./Berwick) was named the East Coast Conference's Rookie of the Week on Thursday.

The Mifflinville, Pa., native finished in a tie for 16th at Saturday's Bud Whitman Invitational tournament, rolling a five-game average of 173.8 pins with a 213 pin output in the team's 923-900 win over No. 17 FDU that led all Kutztown bowlers on the day. Hopper also recorded a 177 mark in the game two win over Caldwell and a 163 in the fourth game against Dominican (N.Y.). She was the lone Golden Bear rookie to start all five games and played a vital role in the team's perfect start to the season.

The Berwick product achieved a team-high 74 percent fill rate, with an average pinfall rate of 17.38 per frame. She was one of three Kutztown bowlers to record a tenth frame double, and was among the team's most efficient setup bowlers, logging a 60 percent setup mark across five attempts.

Additionally, the ECC recognized senior keglers Shelby Wunch (Easton, Md./Easton) and Madison Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York) in the weekly Honor Roll. Wunch finished fourth among the 66-player field this past Saturday, rolling a five-game average of 190 with a day-high of 211 and a pair of 200-plus pinfall games. Brenneman wasn't too far behind, finishing ninth with a 182.8 pinfall average and a 210 pin game in the team's 849-821 victory over Dominican (N.Y.).
