LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Kutztown University men's track and field team opened the two-day Bison Open & Multi with strong performances in the 200-meter run and pole vault at Bucknell University on Friday afternoon.

The Golden Bears turned in a trio of PSAC qualifying times in the 200m, highlighted by a personal best and top-10 program time from James Washburn (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River), who finished second in the field with a 22.42-second performance. Daron Haggans (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) followed closely behind in fourth, while Steele Wrigley's (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) eighth-place mark earned him a personal best on the afternoon.

Three long-distance KU runners crossed the line in the top four, with redshirt sophomore Robby Lloyd (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) crossing in second with another top-10 program mark and personal best in the 5000m. Peyton Small's (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) 15:34.69 run set a conference qualifying mark, while Kayden Platania (Buena, N.J./Buena Regional) came right behind in fourth out of the field.

The Maroon and Gold distance medley relay crew notched a fifth-place finish, while pole vaulters Caleb Tryninewski (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) and Nate Schaeffer (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) each tallied 4.30m vaults to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.

The ongoing heptathlon features sophomore Owen Weaver (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), who currently sits tenth in the standings. Through four events, his best mark was a fifth-place showing in the 60m, where he placed fifth with a time of 7.35 seconds.

Competition resumes at 11 a.m. on Saturday as the Bison Open & Multi finishes its final day from Gerhard Fieldhouse.
