Box Score MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The 14th-ranked Kutztown women's soccer team saw itself trailing for the first time during the 2024 regular season, but was able to net two unanswered goals to complete the come from behind 2-1 win at Millersville Wednesday night in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division opener for both teams.
The Golden Bears (3-0 overall, 1-0 PSAC East) handed the Marauders (1-1, 0-1) their first defeat of the season, and Millersville gave KU its first goal against in the third game, after blanking both Concord (4-0) and Charleston (2-0) last week.
Corinne Morgan (Port Republic, N.J./Cedar Creek) and
Isabella Rossetti (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) did the scoring for the Maroon and Gold with both finding the back of the net in the first half after Millersville opened the game with a goal 8:02 in. Morgan tallied her third goal of the campaign just 3:24 later as Kutztown did not trail for long. The sophomore is tied for the conference lead in goals scored. Rossetti's effort came in the 29th minute off a pass by
Katelyn Economopoulos (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin), her team-leading second assist on the year, to give the Golden Bears their first advantage of the contest.
KU held a 13-4 shots advantage with six of those on goal, compared to just two for MU. The Maroon and Gold also led in corner kicks 11-4.
Kutztown hosts its first conference matchup of the regular season as it welcomes Lock Haven to Keystone Field this Saturday, Sept. 14, for a noon kick.
