KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Different year, same result, but a different goal. The Kutztown women's lacrosse team is back in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year and just the second time in program history.
But in 2024, the Golden Bears (15-5 overall) are looking for their first NCAA win in program history after falling in the regional semifinal in 2023 to East Stroudsburg. And once again, the same two teams will meet in the same game on the same field this year as second-seeded KU will meet the third-seeded Warriors (12-6) this Thursday, May 16, at 3 p.m., at Vonnie Gros Field on the campus of West Chester University.
The Golden Rams (19-0) are the top seed and are hosting the semifinals and final. WCU will take on the fourth seed, Seton Hill (13-5), in the first semifinal at 11 a.m., Thursday.
All tickets to this weekend's games will be sold onsite and will be CASH ONLY. Adults: $10.00; Student/Senior: $5.00; Child (2-5 yrs.): $2.00.
Kutztown is fresh off playing in its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship game in 40 years, where it fell to West Chester this past Sunday.
It will be the fourth matchup of 2024 between KU and ESU and the third meeting within the last 13 days. Kutztown has won two of the three games this season, as the teams split the two regular season matchups and the Maroon and Gold won the conference quarterfinal 10-8 back on May 7. They also met in this exact game on the very same field last year, with the Warriors winning 15-8 on May 12, 2023.
Thursday's winners will advance to the regional final on Saturday, May 18.
Kutztown set a new program record for wins in a season with 15.
