WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Kutztown University women's tennis tell dropped a non-conference match at the University of the District of Columbia, 7-0, Saturday afternoon.
UDC jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after sweeping doubles before taking all six singles matches in straight sets.
The Golden Bears (6-6) took two games at first doubles where
Alejandra Vera (Manta, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Particular) and
Emma Semery (Fuveau, France/HDN Academy) fell against Laura Marie and Sofia Bellucco, 6-2.
In singles,
Ava Lewis (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) won six games in a 6-4, 6-2 defeat to Mariona Franco at No. 4. Vera won four games against Marie in a 6-1, 6-3 loss at No. 1 and
Sarah Lazarchak (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) dropped No. 5 singles by the same scores to Celia Bastin.
Kutztown returns to PSAC East play, Tuesday, when it hosts Bloomsburg at 2 p.m.
