TOWSON, Md. –
Emma Semery (Fuveau, France/HDN Academy) and
Alejandra Vera (Manta, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Particular) teamed up at No. 1 doubles and earned a victory, then both played in singles and won their respective matches for Kutztown women's tennis, but KU fell just short at Goucher, losing 5-4 Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match.
Semery and Vera won their doubles match 8-2, representing the lone win for the Golden Bears in the three doubles pairings. Vera then stayed in the No. 1 spot in the lineup in singles and won that match 6-0, 6-2. Semery, who was at No. 3 singles, closed out the singles matches with a 6-2, 7-5 victory.
Bieke Roovers (Leiden, Netherlands/Leonardo College) also recorded a win at No. 2 singles, finishing with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
Kutztown is scheduled to makeup a previously scheduled match with California (Pa.) this Friday, April 12, at 4 p.m., from Keystone Courts.
