ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Kutztown University women's bowling went 2-2 in best-of-seven Baker bracket play at the East Coast Conference Championship on Saturday, fending off elimination against Adelphi before being ousted from the tournament by top-seeded Bryant in the sixth round.
The Golden Bears came into Saturday's double elimination bracket seeded fourth after putting up a score of 4,538 (181.5 average) during Friday's qualifying matches.
KU (58-33) got past fifth-seeded Roberts Wesleyan, 4-1, in round two, allowing the Maroon and Gold to bypass round three.
In round four, the Bears ran up against eighth-seeded D'Youville which is putting together a Cinderella run. Kutztown fell into the elimination bracket with a 4-1 defeat. D'Youville has won 3-of-4 matches in bracket play, including an upset of top-seeded Bryant, to advance to Sunday's round seven and a rematch with Bryant for a spot in the championship mega match opposite Mercyhurst.

Angela Reynolds saw her team rise to the task in its first elimination match with a 4-0 sweep of seventh-seeded Adelphi in round five. The Golden Bears were unable to repeat the magic in round six against Bryant, falling 4-2, to end their tournament and season.
Kutztown concludes the 2023-24 campaign with a 58-33 record. The 58 wins are the most for the program since 2018-19 and the Golden Bears enjoyed their sixth consecutive winning season.
