LIMERICK, Pa. -- The 22nd-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team recorded three 900+ matches and won 4-of-5 matches, including a ranked victory over No. 24 Delaware State, Saturday at the Griffin Baker Classic.
The Golden Bears were in fine form early to defeat the nationally ranked Hornets.
Sydney Snyder (Morrisville, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic),
Meghan Ripley (Bel Air, Md./Fallston),
Megan Hanaway (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township),
Madison Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York) and
Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) put forth games of 198 to start and end the match, with a pair of 200s in games two and four on their way to a 966-920 victory. The 966 score was Kutztown's (30-15) highest of the day.
Ally Sipe (York, Pa./Central York) joined the Bears' lineup in place of Ripley for the match against Mercyhurst but KU continued to roll.
Angela Reynolds' team finished strong with three straight 200+ games (209, 246 and 202) to defeat the Lakers 943-824.
Monmouth spoiled Kutztown's perfect day with a 956-875 victory in the middle match, before the Golden Bears bounced back with a 940-893 win over Wilmington (Del.) and a hard-fought 876-831 victory against Molloy. KU put forth a pair of 200+ games in each of the wins.
Kutztown will conclude the Griffin Baker Classic beginning at 8:30 a.m., Sunday. The Maroon and Gold are scheduled to face Caldwell and LIU before seedings are set for the final two matches.
