Hollar wins 5000m at Ocean Breeze, Solonoski shines at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. & STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.  – Kutztown University men's track & field enjoyed a successful start to the 2024-25 indoor season with a pair of PSAC qualifying performances on Friday. Jack Hollar (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) set fast time in the 5000-meter run at the FastTrack Season Opener, while Jacob Solonoski (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) took second in the weight throw at the Lehigh Fast Times Before Finals meet.

Hollar ran in the top three for the entire 5k at Ocean Breeze, going in front at 1k and never looking back on his way to a 4.4 second victory over Marist's Matthew Ferreri. The senior's winning time of 15:29.10 qualified for the 2025 PSAC Indoor Championships.

Back in Pennsylvania, Solonoski took runner-up honors among 24 competitors in the weight throw. The Weatherly, Pa., native recorded a best throw of 16.09m (52'9.50") to trail only Liam Lovering of the host Mountain Hawks (18.05m/59'2.75"). Solonoski wasted no time qualifying for the PSAC Championships, where he'll look to win a second straight medal after placing third in the weight throw at the 2024 Indoor Championships.

Owen Weaver (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) also competed at Lehigh, taking part in the heptathlon. After 4-of-7 events, Weaver ranks sixth with 2,386 points. His top finishes came in the 60-meter dash, where he was fourth in 7.39 for 749 points, and the long jump, where he was fourth at 6.14m (20'1.75") for 617 points.

Weaver will be back in action at 9 a.m., Saturday, as the heptathlon concludes with the 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000m. The Golden Bears will also have much of their roster competing with field events slated to begin at 10 a.m. following the completion of the heptathlon.
