COLONIA, N.J. – Following a fourth-place performance from the Kutztown women's bowling team at the Bud Whitman Memorial Tournament, Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) was named Bowler of the Week for the second consecutive week while Madison Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York) earned a spot on the weekly honor roll list from the East Coast Conference after the second weekend of competition, as announced by the conference Thursday.
Sromovski, a First Team All-Conference bowler from a season ago, continues to lead the way for the Golden Bears (11-8). The senior recorded four 200-pin games and rolled a high of 245 to pace the Golden Bears on their 4-0 first day. She placed sixth overall individually with a 21.18 frame average on a 90 percent fill clip, putting her in line for All-Tournament Team honors.
The York, Pa., native led the team with a 44.4 percent strike rate in baker competition, setting an 81.5 percent fill mark on the second day of competition in close battles against the top of the field at the Delaware tournament.
The junior Brenneman earned her first honor of the season after four 200-pin games on the opening day, with the highlight coming in a team-high 248 score in the win over Felician. Her efforts on the opening day put her in 10th place in the individual standings. She closed out the tournament by converting more than 90 percent of her single-pin spares while spending most of the final day in the fourth spot of the lineup.
Kutztown hosts their home tournament – the Golden Bear Invite – at Berks Lanes in Sinking Springs, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20.
