KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown women's tennis was victorious in every part of the doubles and singles lineup that it had competitors as it finished its fall portion of the schedule on a high note, defeating Eastern 6-1 Wednesday afternoon at Keystone Courts.
It was the first win in Oct. for the Golden Bears (2-3 overall) and second overall.
Both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams won their matches to earn Kutztown the point.
Emma Semery (Fuveau, France/HDN Academy) and
Bieke Roovers (Leiden, Netherlands/Leonardo College) came out on top unscathed at 6-0 and
Isabela de Nadai (Vitoria, Brazil/St. Paul's School) and
Ryleigh Bohning (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) finished as 6-1 victors.
De Nadai was the first to finish in singles action, taking care of her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Roovers also was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 2 singles. No. 1 in the lineup, Semery, recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win. Bohning came out on top 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 and
Gabby Gentile (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) rounded out the lineup with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
Kutztown will now head into the winter offseason with some positive momentum. KU will next take to the court in a competitive match on Saturday, March 8, against Fairmont State at 2 p.m., from Keystone Courts.
