STRATFORD, N.J. – For the first time in a little over two months, the nationally-ranked Kutztown women's bowling team was back out on the lanes. It was a good day overall for the Golden Bears as they won four-of-their-five matches in baker style format Friday to open up a three-day competition weekend at the New Jersey Open at 30 Strikes Lanes in Stratford, N.J.

Kutztown defeated Adelphi 864-728 to begin the day, but then fell to No. 25 Fairleigh Dickinson 883-877. The Maroon and Gold then went on a run of three consecutive victories, including 894-800 over the host Knights of New Jersey City, 835-792 against Wagner and then concluded the day by beating Holy Family 852-607.

Meghan Ripley (Bel Air, Md./Fallston),
Megan Hanaway (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township),
Madison Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York) and
Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) were the regulars in the lineup for all five matches for head coach
Angela Reynolds.
Sydney Snyder (Morrisville, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) and
Ally Sipe (York, Pa./Central York) worked in tandem for the fifth spot in the lineup, sharing time.

The high score of the day came in the win over New Jersey City as the fifth and final game, KU tallied a score of 212 for an overall high of 894 on the day.

Kutztown is once again scheduled for five matches tomorrow, beginning with a rematch against FDU at 10 a.m. Long Island awaits then next, followed by Monmouth, Felician and Wilmington (Del.).
