KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The number one doubles team of freshmen
Alejandra Vera (Manta, Ecuador/Unidad Educativa Particular) and
Bieke Roovers (Leiden, Netherlands/Leonardo College) came through in the end with a 6-3 victory to earn Kutztown Women's Tennis the lone point in doubles action. It proved vital as KU's singles split with Moravian and ended up winning the non-conference showdown Saturday afternoon at Keystone Courts.

Before the Vera/Roovers duo won their match,
Sierra Smart (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) and
Angela Moncavage (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) also won a 6-3 match at No. 3 doubles to earn KU the point.
Vera and Roovers followed up their doubles win and took it home individually as Vera won at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-1 and Roovers was victorious at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-3 to give their team two points.
Sarah Lazarchak (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) also earned a point for the Maroon and Gold at No. 3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1. The trio of Vera, Roovers and Lazarchak now all have three wins at singles.
Kutztown has one more match, a makeup at Scranton next Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference individual championships follow that next weekend, beginning Saturday, Oct. 7, at Bloomsburg University.
