BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's tennis team dropped Monday afternoon's PSAC East match at Bloomsburg, 7-0.
The Golden Bears were fighting an uphill battle from the start without a third doubles team and sixth singles entry available.
Bloomsburg (1-8, 1-1 PSAC East) won first and second doubles with little pushback, 6-2 and 6-1. Singles also belonged to the Huskies, who claimed all five contested flights in straight sets.
Jessika Klo (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) proved to be Kutztown's (4-8, 1-2 PSAC East) best chance to secure a point, but Alese Rinker held off Klo in a first-set tiebreaker, 7-6 (3), and a second set that needed extra games, 7-5, to win fourth singles.
No. 6
Angela Moncavage (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) won two games off Sarah Capoferri in a 6-2, 6-0 defeat, while No. 1
Ava Lewis (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) won a game in each set of a 6-1, 6-1 setback to Lexi Quackenbush.
KU will try to halt its two-match slide when it heads up to East Stroudsburg for a 3 p.m. start this Wednesday.
