READING, Pa. -- Daemen spoiled the spring opener for the Kutztown University women's tennis team, Saturday, capturing every match en route to a 7-0 victory indoors at the Hillcrest Racquet Club.
The visitors jumped in front with convincing 6-1 wins at first and second doubles behind the pairings of Frida Rubio/Kitsa Scime and Yinett Del Leon/Carly Armitage.
All four of those players also won their respective singles matches for Daemen (4-9) in flights 1-4.
Ava Lewis (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) was able to take four games off Rubio at No. 1 in a 6-2, 6-2 setback, while freshman
Angela Moncavage (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) battled Mackenzie Schayes tough in an 8-6 pro set loss at No. 5.
Next up for the Maroon and Gold (2-4) is a trip to Moravian Saturday, March 11. Match time is 11 a.m.
