BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Kutztown University women's tennis fell for the second time in as many spring matches, 6-0, at Moravian on Saturday.
The Golden Bears put up a good fight at third doubles where
Brianna Wendling (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) and
Angela Moncavage (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) won four games in an 8-4 defeat to Rose Lombardo and Mara Stapleton. The host Greyhounds swept first doubles, 8-0, and took second doubles, 8-1, to lead 3-0 going into singles.
Moravian (9-1) got a 6-1, 6-0 win from Izzy Szmodis at No. 3, a 6-2, 6-1 win from Julianne Cassady at No. 1 and a 6-2, 6-2 victory from Maddie Figiel at No. 2 to clinch the match.
With the loss, Kutztown drops to 2-5 on the season.
The Maroon and Gold will not play their regularly scheduled matches at Harford Community College and Goucher this week. KU's next match will be at home against Penn State Harrisburg on Friday, March 24, at 3 p.m.
