KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The Kutztown University acrobatics & tumbling team won all six events on its way to a 222.750-121.875 triumph over Stevenson in its home opener at Keystone Arena Thursday evening.

The Golden Bears (1-2) were able to gradually pull away throughout the meet, but were especially strong in the pyramid event, where they surpassed 8.0 scores in all three heats.

KU posted its first of two 9.0 or greater heat scores in the pyramid heat of the compulsory event. On the mat for the Maroon and Gold were Shayla Anderson-Buhanan,

Julia Yeager (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg). The Bears also had a solid score in the toss heat with an 8.10.

Following the opening event, Kutztown held a 30.40-23.60 advantage. That lead increased by 4.5 points in the acro event, before the hosts went to work in their best event of the night, the pyramid.

Kutztown scored 8.75 out of 9.80 in the inversion heat, 8.00 out of 9.90 in the synchronized heat and a meet-high 9.30 out of 10.00 in the open heat. Competing in the open heat were Fernandez, Lincoln, Marshall, Osner and Satterlee.

The Golden Bears took a 78.30-64.95 lead to halftime.

Karah Paull's team collected scores of 8.0 or better in two of three toss heats, the 450 salto (8.30) and open (8.05), while doing the same in the final three heats of the tumbling event. KU registered an 8.525 in the aerial pass, an 8.550 in the 6-element pass and an 8.525 in the open pass.

Kutztown's final margin of victory came from a 76.350 score in the team event.

The Golden Bears will see Stevenson (1-2) again in their next meet, this time traveling to Owings Mills, Md., on Tuesday, March 14, for a tri-meet with the host Mustangs and Saint Leo.
