KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The Kutztown University women's tennis team fell to West Chester, 7-0, in its PSAC East opener at the Keystone Courts Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Rams, who reached the PSAC semifinals last spring before bowing out against eventual conference champion IUP, blew through doubles by winning 18-of-19 games and went on to capture all six singles flights in straight sets.
Kutztown (2-6, 0-1 PSAC East) competed hard in singles. No. 2
Sarah Lazarchak (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) collected seven game victories in a 6-4, 6-3 loss to Davica Massaro. Teammate
Jess Marks (Allentown, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) took six games from Ana Ochoa at No. 3 in a 6-3, 6-3 setback.
Freshman
Angela Moncavage (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) played Amber Nguyen close in their opening set at No. 6, but fell by 6-4, 6-0 scores.
West Chester improved to 2-3 overall with the win and 1-0 in the PSAC East.
Kutztown will be back at home Friday to face Penn State Harrisburg in non-conference action, weather permitting.
