CARY, N.C. -- The Kutztown University baseball team (4-2) capped the weekend off in style, downing Goldey-Beacom (7-2) 13-5 with an impressive offensive display down in North Carolina Sunday afternoon. 

Kutztown's offense came to play, amassing 16 hits against the Lightning's pitching staff. KU started the scoring early in the second inning and kept the momentum rolling, taking a 10-0 lead by the sixth inning. Goldey-Beacom found some offense down the stretch, but the Golden Bears tacked on three more runs in the top of the seventh to pull away and secure the 13-5 win. 

Nine Golden Bears registered a hit in the game. Brennan Rozich (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) found his groove at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Ethan Martini (Trevose, Pa./Father Judge) continued his hot start to the season, going 3-for-5 with three RBI. Michael Burns (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) and Mitchell Peers (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) both registered multiple hits and RBI on the day. Jason Wolff (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and Antonio Rossillo (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) both had an RBI as well. 

Dominic Proietto (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) got the start on the mound for KU and went five innings, allowing three hits while striking out three. He earned the win while Justin Jump took the loss for Goldey-Beacom.

The Golden Bears bounce back after yesterday's loss to Clarion and end the weekend in Cary 2-1. 

KU has one more southern road trip next weekend to Wilson, N.C. The first game of the weekend will be on Friday, March 3 against The College of Saint Rose. The first pitch from Fleming Stadium is slated for 4:30 p.m.
