Four from Women’s Basketball selected to CSC Academic All-District team

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Seniors Sydney Pierson (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown), Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) and Annie Whalen (Ivyland, Pa./Archbishop Wood), along with junior Zara Zerman (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) of Kutztown women's basketball were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
 
The organization was formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America.
 
Pierson is a sport management major who holds a 3.77 GPA. She has been penciled into the starting lineup, starting all 27 games thus far this season and has played 23.3 minutes per game. Pierson is averaging 4.3 ppg and 5.4 rpg, both career-bests. Her 44 blocks is tied with Remolde for third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
 
Remolde is majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing, maintaining a 3.87 GPA. She has started in all 26 games she has played this season, averaging 10.1 ppg, 2.1 apg and a team-high 5.5 rpg in 32.1 minutes. Her 44 blocks is tied with Pierson for third in the PSAC. Remolde is a two-time All-PSAC East Second teamer and was the 2019-20 East Defensive Athlete of the Year.
 
Whalen is a business administration major with an accounting focus, holding a 3.99 GPA. She has become a regular in the starting lineup this season, starting in 16-of-24 games played. Whalen has averaged 8.1 ppg, 3.4 rpg and 1.7 apg in 27.3 minutes, all career-highs. Her 34.8% from long distance ranks sixth in the PSAC. Whalen is a two-time Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization's Scholar-Athlete.
 
Zerman is majoring in sport management and is boasting a 3.99 GPA. She has started all 26 games she has played in this season. Zerman is averaging 9.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 2.6 apg in 29.9 minutes. Her 88.8% from the free-throw line is tops in the conference and her 35 steals ranks second on KU.
 
The 2022-23 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
 
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
