WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Three members of the Kutztown University women's basketball team reached double digits in points as KU lost to West Chester, 69-54, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division action Wednesday evening inside Hollinger Field House on the campus of West Chester University.

Zara Zerman (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon),
Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) and
Abbey Hearn (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) were the three Golden Bears (10-11 overall, 8-7 PSAC) in double figures. Zerman flirted with a triple-double, finishing with a team-high 15 points and adding six rebounds and six assists. Remolde recorded 12 points, three rebounds and two assists and played all 40 minutes. Hearn tallied 12 points and eight rebounds, two boards shy of a double-double.

The Golden Rams (14-7, 11-4) opened the game by scoring the first seven points and held a 10-2 lead just 4:12 into the game, but KU finished out the quarter on a 16-9 run and trailed by just one after a Hearn 3-pointer with 0:04 left.

Just like to start the game, West Chester began the second quarter on a run, scoring the first six points in the opening 5:13 to go ahead 25-18. KU pulled to within one at 27-26 with 1:45 remaining until halftime, but a 3-pointer by Emily McAteer with 0:05 to go pushed the Golden Rams advantage to four heading into the locker rooms.

WCU extended its lead to double figures, scoring the first eight points in a span of 2:36 to go on top 38-26 with 7:24 left in the third. The advantage was pushed to as many as 17 points (47-30) with 3:19 to go, but the Maroon and Gold cut their deficit to eight (49-41) after a 3-pointer from
Annie Whalen (Ivyland, Pa./Archbishop Wood) with 0:40 left in the quarter. KU never got closer than eight in the fourth quarter as West Chester continually extended its lead.

Whalen contributed six points and three rebounds.
Naia Pulliam (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) added seven points, six rebounds and five assists in 37 minutes.
Sydney Pierson (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) had two points, three rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

The Golden Bears sit in a tie for third place with East Stroudsburg in the East. West Chester is in second place behind Shippensburg.

Kutztown has the weekend off and will next hit the court on Monday, Feb. 6, when it hosts Millersville at Keystone Arena at 5:30 p.m., for Girls and Women in Sports Day.
