BUFFALO, N.Y. –
Abbey Hearn (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) recorded a team-best 11 points and the Kutztown University women's basketball team, for the sixth time in as many seasons, stepped up a level in competition and faced a Division I opponent as KU traveled to upstate New York and fell to the University of Buffalo 87-47 Sunday afternoon in an exhibition game.
Naia Pulliam (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth),
Zara Zerman (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and
Bella Arcuri (Fallsington, Pa./Pennsbury) all tallied seven points for the Golden Bears (1-3 overall), who fell behind by double figures (17-7) after the opening quarter and could not get any closer the rest of the way. The Bulls (5-1) took control of the game after halftime, outscoring the Maroon and Gold 28-12 in the third quarter.
Shannon Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) netted five points and
Leila Hurley (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe) added four points for KU.
Casey Remolde (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) contributed three points, five rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.
Buffalo shot 63.8% (30-of-47) from the floor overall and 43.8% (7-for-16) from long distance, compared to KU's 30.4% (14-of-46) and 33.3% (7-for-21), respectively.
Kutztown resumes its regular season portion of its schedule next weekend as it begins Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play by welcoming Edinboro on Friday, Dec. 1, for a 3 p.m., game and then host Mercyhurst the following day at 1 p.m., both games inside Keystone Arena.
