WILMINGTON, Del. -- The Kutztown University men's basketball team (1-4) struggled on the road Tuesday night, falling to Goldey-Beacom (3-3) 110-78 at the Joseph West Jones Center down in Wilmington, Del.
Four Golden Bears ended in double-figures: Jalen Bryant (Edgewood, Md./John Carroll) (18), Kameron Roberts (Townsend, Del./Middletown) (12), Ryan Glassmacher (Stewartsville, N.J./Bethlehem Catholic (Pa.)) (11), and Yahmir Satterfield (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) (10). Bryant led the team with four assists and Satterfield led the way with six boards.
KU shot 41.7% from the floor compared to the Lightning's 55.1%. Goldey-Beacom was efficient from beyond the arc, shooting 56.7% (17-23). The depth of the Lightning was also a factor in this game, outscoring KU 51-25 in points off the bench.
The Golden Bears jumped out to a 6-0 lead that was quickly erased with back-to-back threes from the Lightning. KU's final lead of the game was 26-25 with 7:37 left in the first half. Goldey-Beacom outscored the Golden Bears 24-13 the remainder of the first half to head into the half up 49-39.
A Ryan Glassmacher (Stewartsville, N.J./Bethlehem Catholic (Pa.)) three-pointer and a pair of free throws from Yahmir Satterfield (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) cut the lead down to seven right out of the half, but that's as close as KU got as the Lightning started to pull away. A 14-0 run from 13:05 to 10:59 extended the lead to 81-55. The Golden Bears couldn't recover from that point forward as Goldey-Beacom won 110-78. It's the most points allowed by the Golden Bears since the 2018-19 season.
KU returns to Keystone Arena for the first time this season in its next game against PSAC West foes Edinboro. The Golden Bears and Fighting Scots are slated to tip off at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1.
