Golden Bears fall in home and PSAC opener to Edinboro 71-67

KUTZTOWN, Pa.-- The Kutztown University men's basketball (1-5, 0-1 PSAC) went wire-to-wire with the Fighting Scots of Edinboro (2-4, 1-0 PSAC) its home and PSAC opener, falling 71-67 Friday night at Keystone Arena.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with six lead changes, but Edinboro went on a 7-2 run from 6:05 to 1:59 of the second half to take a 67-60 lead, its largest of the game. A Will Meeker (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) jump shot with eight seconds left made it a two-point game, but Bernie Blunt netted both of his free throw attempts to ice the game.

The KU freshman duo of Jaiden McGhee (Townsend, Del./Middletown) and Yahmir Satterfield (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) were the story of the game for the Golden Bears, netting 12 and 10 points respectively. KU went on a 14-2 run from the 11-minute to eight-minute mark of the first half on the back of McGhee off the bench. The Townsend, Del. native had eight points and two steals over that span.

Jalen Bryant (Edgewood, Md./John Carroll), who averages 20 points per game, was held to an uncharacteristic nine points. Ryan Glassmacher (Stewartsville, N.J./Bethlehem Catholic (Pa.)) led the team with seven boards to go along with nine points and one block. Kameron Roberts (Townsend, Del./Middletown) led KU in steals (3) and blocks (2) to go along with nine points. PSAC leading scorer Bernie Blunt had 27 points, while Daunte Wilcott had a double-double for Edinboro.

The Golden Bears did a good job under the basket, outscoring the Fighting Scots 42-32 in the paint. KU also shot 50% from the floor compared to Edinboro's 39.7%. Second chance points were the kryptonite for KU in the loss, being outscored 14-6 in the game and 12-1 in the second half. The Golden Bears also struggled from beyond the arc, going 1-8 in the second half.
