LANCASTER, Pa. – Kutztown women's swimming had a successful opening day/night at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational in Lancaster on Friday.
 
There were four Golden Bears that achieved top-10 times and two relay teams that also accomplished the feat. Gracie McKee (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown), who is already second all-time in program history in the 200 IM at 2:06.89, had a PR of 2:06.42 in finishing second in the final. Birta Smaradottir (Mosfellsbær, Iceland/Commercial College of Iceland), who also qualified for the final of the 200 IM, swam a time of 2:13.99, which ranks seventh all-time. In the 50 Free, both Frannie Pease-Wingenter (Goodyear, Ariz./Millennium) and Ana Soto (Hamburg, N.J./Vernon Township) earned the fifth and seventh fastest times in program history, at 24.76 and 24.82, respectively.
 
Kutztown's 'A' 200 Free Relay, consisting of Pease-Wingenter, Soto, Trinity Miller (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) and McKee placed fifth with a time of 1:39.14, which is eighth at KU. The Kutztown 'A' 400 Medley Relay team of McKee, Smaradottir, Soto and Rodier swam a time of 4:02.23 and cracked into the top-10.
 
Annamarie Rodier (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) joined McKee, Smaradottir, Pease-Wingenter and Soto with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying times, as the sophomore finished second in the 500 Free at 5:08.60.
 
Day two at the Invitational begins tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 18, with the prelims at 10 a.m.
