ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.-- The Kutztown University men's basketball team (1-1) suffered its first defeat of the season to Lincoln (Pa.) (1-1) 84-70 Saturday afternoon down in North Carolina.
Jalen Bryant (Edgewood, Md./John Carroll) led the scoring for the second game to start the season with 20 points, to go along with 5 rebounds. Brent Ricketts Jr. (Seaford, Del./Seaford) had another solid outing, netting 12 points. Ryan Glassmacher (Stewartsville, N.J./Bethlehem Catholic (Pa.)) had one of his best career games with 11 points and six boards. Jaiden McGhee (Townsend, Del./Middletown) finished one point and rebound shy of a double-double. His nine rebounds were the most on KU.
Lincoln (Pa.) opened the scoring, jumping out to a 5-0 lead before an Amir Cunningham (Middletown, Del./Middletown) layup cut the lead to 7-5. After that point, the Lions kept KU at arm's distance, never surrendering the lead. Lincoln (Pa.) led by as much as 19 points with 3:21 left in the contest.
KU struggled to shoot from the floor compared to Lincoln (Pa.), shooting 37% to the Lion's 52.5%. The Golden Bears also struggled in the paint, being outscored 48-24, and from three-point range, going 1-8 (12.5%) in the second half.
KU is back in action on the road at Jefferson this Wednesday, Nov. 15. Tip-off from Philadelphia is slated for 6 p.m.
