BLOOMSBURG, Pa.-- The 14th-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team (4-1-1, 3-1-1 PSAC) dropped a tightly contested to No. 22 Bloomsburg (6-1-0, 4-1-0 PSAC) 1-0 at Steph Pettit Stadium Wednesday evening.
The Golden Bears battled to the very end, but a goal by Alivia Gallardo 30 seconds into the second half proved to be the difference in the contest. Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) registered two shots in the contest for KU. Caroline McDonald (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) and Lexy Endres (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) both also had one shot a piece. Emme Wolfel (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) made one save for the Golden Bears in the net.
Both teams struggled to create offense in the first half, with the teams putting one combined shot of the frame. After the Huskie's goal to start the second half, the Golden Bears pushed hard for the equalizer but were unable to find the back of the net for the first time this season.
The Golden Bears are off this weekend before jumping back into PSAC play with a matchup against No. 5 West Chester next Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Keystone Field. That game will kick off at 7 p.m.
