KUTZTOWN, Pa. – One day after the Kutztown University women's tennis team opened its 2022-23 season with a victory, it had a different outcome less than 24 hours later, falling to Chestnut Hill 7-0 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match at Keystone Courts.
The Golden Bears (1-1 overall) were unable to get on the scoreboard in any singles or doubles set against the Griffins (1-1).
Claudia Makarski (Garfield, N.J./Paramus Catholic) and
Ava Lewis (Camp Hill, Pa./East Pennsboro) won two sets in No. 1 doubles, the best outcome of doubles for the Maroon and Gold. Makarski also won three sets at No. 1 singles and
Sarah Lazarchak (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) was victorious in two sets at No. 5 singles for KU.
Kutztown will look to bounce back in its next match at Jefferson University next Saturday, Sept. 17, at noon.
