Following shutout win over Lock Haven, Zach Male earns first PSAC East Pitcher of the Week award

PSAC Release

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Zach Male (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) fired a three-hit shutout to lead Kutztown University baseball to a 1-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division victory over Lock Haven at North Campus Field last Friday. The sophomore right-hander brought home this week's PSAC East Pitcher of the Week honor, announced by the league office Monday.

Male threw his first complete game, going all nine innings and doing so effectively in 106 pitches. He allowed just three hits and struck out eight, while only walking one and not allowing an extra-base hit. It was his second career shutout and first PSAC weekly award.

Male also recorded his first victory of the season on the mound for the Golden Bears (6-13 overall, 2-4 PSAC).

Kutztown hosts Lincoln University in a non-conference game on Tuesday, March 22, at 3 p.m. KU is also scheduled to travel to take on IUP the following day, Wednesday, before beginning a weekend, three-game series with Bloomsburg.
