EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- Freshmen Ainsley Fischer (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) and Jade Ware (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) made the most of Kutztown University's final regular season swim meet, as Fischer qualified for the upcoming PSAC Championships in the 100-yard freestyle and Ware achieved a 200-yard breaststroke qualifying time during Saturday's unscored ESU Invitational.

The Golden Bears were one of four teams to take part in the meet, along with host East Stroudsburg, Millersville and Lehigh.

Fischer placed seventh of 16 competitors in the 100 free, turning in a personal best 56.23, clipping the PSAC standard of 56.35 by just over a tenth of a second. The Newark, Del., native also swam a PR of 26.52 in the 50 free.

Ware built on a strong meet against Cedar Crest last week in which she won the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM. She finished runner-up in the 200 breast, Saturday, with a PSAC qualifying and season-best time of 2:36.05. Earlier in the afternoon, Ware put down a PR in the 100 breast, where her 1:11.94 was fourth-best among 13 competitors.

Fischer and Ware accounted for four of five PRs by Kutztown swimmers in the meet. Keara Bedson (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) set a new personal standard in the 100 breast with a 1:12.91, as Golden Bears finished fourth, fifth and sixth overall behind Ware, Bedson and Gracie McKee (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown).

A few Kutztown representatives swam in events outside their specialty in an attempt to eclipse PSAC qualifying times ahead of the conference meet.

With its regular season complete, the Golden Bears will now turn their training towards the PSAC meet, which will be held Feb. 16-19, at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa.
