YORK, Pa. – Junior
Gracie McKee (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) was the last swimmer into the 'A' final of the 200 IM after qualifying in the prelim in 2:09.55 to highlight a quartet of Kutztown University women's swimmers competing on day one at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center in York.
McKee narrowly reached the top final, outlasting the next swimmer by 0:04. She swam a quicker time of 2:09.04 and bettered her final position in the standings, placing sixth overall in the final. There were 43 total competitors in the event.
Keelie Walker (York, Pa./York Suburban) swam a season-best time of 25.39 to lead a trio of Golden Bears in the 50 free.
Ainsley Fischer (Newark, Del./Delaware Military Academy) and
Jade Ware (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) also swam in the prelim, but none of the three qualified for the final as Walker was the top finisher in 36th.
Outside of the individual events, KU's quartet of
Emmarose DeCaro (Apex, N.C./Apex),
Jocelyn Seidt (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson), Fischer and
Keara Bedson (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) swam in the 800 free relay. The Golden Bears earned a season-best time of 8:21.59, almost a full 0:11 faster than the previous time of 8:32.44 from the Franklin & Marshall Invitational.
Kutztown sits in ninth place overall out of 12 teams with 56 points.
Day two is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 17. McKee and Seidt are competing in the 100 Fly and Fischer will be swimming the 200 Free.
