KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University Field Hockey received five student-athletes on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Scholars of Distinction honors for 2021, announced Tuesday. Graduate student Leigh Roselli (Romansville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), senior Katie Dotterweich (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone), sophomores Jillian Buchman (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) and Sarah Gatehouse (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) and freshman Sydney Reinisch (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) all were recognized by the NFHCA.
 
More than 150 student-athletes were named Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II Scholars of Distinction overall.
 
The program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2021-22 academic year.
 
Since eight-year head coach Marci Scheuing arrived prior to the 2013 season, Kutztown has consistently paired high-level of play on the field and academic performance in the classroom. Multiple Golden Bear student-athletes have been honored as NFHCA Scholars of Distinction each season since 2014 --including a program-high seven following the 2016 season.
 
It is the fourth consecutive honor for Dotterweich and second straight for both Buchman and Gatehouse. Roselli and Reinisch are Scholars of Distinction for the first times in their respective careers.
