KUTZTOWN, Pa. – After another NCAA Final Four appearance and PSAC runner-up finish this past season, Kutztown field hockey head coach
Marci Scheuing was awarded the 2025-26 Dr. Dorothy Moyer Women's Coach of the Year.
Presented annually since 1993, the Kutztown University Athletics Dr. Dorothy Moyer Women's Coach of the Year award recognizes the coach of a women's varsity sport for leading their team to success in a given academic year. From 1987-1992, the KU athletic department named a singular Coach of the Year. Coaches of women's varsity sports to earn the award during that time are listed below along with the annual Dr. Dorothy Moyer award recipients.
The award is voted upon by athletic department administration, coaches and support staff, and announced each summer.
It is the fourth year end recognition for Scheuing, who also won it in 2015-16, 2019-20 and 2023-24.
The 2025 season was an historic one for the Golden Bears, who had a record-breaking 20-2 campaign that featured the most wins in a single season in program history, the longest winning streak (19 games), and new single-season program records for goals (101) and assists (67). They also led the nation in penalty corners with 304 (more than 13 per game) and allowed a Division II-low 15 goals all season. KU finished the regular season at the top of the conference and hosted the PSAC Final Four, defeating West Chester in the semifinals before falling to Shippensburg in the championship game. At NCAAs, Kutztown took down Assumption in its First Round game, but then lost to the Raiders in the semifinal round to conclude the year.
The PSAC acknowledged the year the Maroon and Gold had and voted Scheuing the PSAC Coach of the Year.
Scheuing helped guide five All-Americans, the most the program has had since 2005, including
Erin Gonzalez (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot),
Olivia Kirkpatrick (Annville, Pa./Palmyra),
Marissa Rice (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg),
Jessica Traynor (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and
Grace Harrold (York, Pa./Central York).
